Three Shops gutted in Fire at Ukhrul

The fire reportedly broke out in Viewland around 8 pm on Tuesday. The prompt response of Ukhrul Fire Brigade, 35 Assam Rifles, Ukhrul Police and the general public have helped in controlling the spread of fire to other buildings.

A major fire broke out at Viewland Ukhrul around 8:00 pm on Tuesday. OC of Ukhrul PS, Lanee Tao informed that “three shops have been gutted by the fire. The exact causes of the fire couldn’t be ascertained as of now.”

OC Lanee Tao said that the fire could be controlled and prevented from spreading to other neighbouring buildings because of the immediate and swift response of Ukhrul Fire Brigade, general public, Ukhrul Police and 35 Assam Rifles of Somsai Battalion.

Post Commander of 35 Assam Rifles Ukhrul Town Maj Rahul Chawla told this correspondent that on receiving the report of fire incident, he along with his team immediately rushed to the spot and helped in dousing the fire. Prompt action of the fire fighters from Ukhrul Town post of 35 AR, Somsai Battalion has helped in controlling the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Denizen of Ukhrul lauded 35 Assam Rifles, Ukhrul Fire Brigade and Ukhrul Police for their prompt response.

No report of human casualties or injury. The building of the owner has rented the three rooms to three different shop owners, who sell garments. The shop owners are yet to submit the details of their losses to the Ukhrul Police.
