To take forward the new role and responsibility of this vital forum, Khathing Ronrei was elected as the first president of the TMJF, Phungchamnao Ranreiphi Kharei as general secretary, Skyrim Zimik as finance secretary, Mingyashin Shaiza and Jenny Thingshung as executive members, for the tenure 2021-2023.

The Tangkhul media professionals and journalists working in Manipur, Northeast and across India on November 20, 2021 came together and resolved to establish Tangkhul Media & Journalists Forum (TMJF).

In the 1st general meeting of the forum held on November 20, 2021, Valleyrose Hungyo, Ngathingkhui Jagoi, Sothing Shimray were unanimously elected as three members advisory board of TMJF.

TMJF, in a statement, said that the number of Tangkhuls in print, television, electronic and digital news media over the past decade has grown substantially. At the same time, the mounting challenges on journalists in the country by state and non-state actors, the absence of a body to cater to the needs in times of hardship; and to uplift and empower individuals in the profession, prompted the establishment of TMJF.

TMJF is an inclusive forum for the welfare of all Tangkhul journalists, professionals in the media fraternity both in the private and public sector in India, the statement added.
