Sugnu police arrested four individuals who were transporting dogs to hotels, meant for consumption.
After receiving specific information about the illegal transportation of dogs, a team of Sugnu police on Tuesday set up a check post at Napet Thongkhong.
At around 6:00 am, the police team intercepted two scooters along with the seven dogs in sacks. They were transporting the dogs from Chandel towards Churachandpur, according to sources.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Lanpohao (21) of Khoupibung village, Tolet Mate (53), John Paolun Khongsai (26) of Tuilong village, and Tangkhulhou Mate (23) of Old Changpol village, Moreh.
A case has been registered at Sugnu Police Station and further investigation is underway.
