Sonia Gandhi appoints N Bupenda Meitei as vice chairperson of All India Fishermen Congress

Earlier, Bupenda Meitei, who was brought in the Fishermen Congress by Rahul Gandhi before 2019 Lok Sabha election, was looking after the fishermen congress in the entire eight states of the Northeast India region.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday appointed Ningombam Bupenda Meitei as vice-chairperson of All India Fishermen Congress under All India Congress Committee. 

Earlier, Bupenda Meitei, who was brought in the Fishermen Congress by Rahul Gandhi before 2019 Lok Sabha election, was looking after the fishermen congress in the entire eight states of the Northeast India region. 

He is also the spokesperson of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. 

In a tweet, he expressed his gratitude to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for entrusting the national responsibility on him. He also exuded confidence in the proactive leadership of AIFC chairman, TN Prathapan, Lok Sabha MP, in bringing a better fishing world with an empowered fishing community in India.

Bupenda Meitei tweeted, “I am grateful to Hon’ble Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji, for giving me an opportunity to serve India by being a Vice-Chairperson of All India Fishermen Congress under All India Congress Committee. 

“Without the inspiration of Shri Rahul Gandhi ji and Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ji, my political journey would not have been possible today.

“Under the proactive leadership of Hon’ble Chairman, AIFC, Shri T.N. Prathapan ji, MP, Lok Sabha, I am confident that the fishing community and future of fishing world will become better for our nation,” he tweeted.
