Sambu Raiping Long (SRL) has expressed immense gratitude to Minister of Public Works, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Information and Public Relations, Administrative Reforms, Commerce and Industries, Thongam Biswajit Singh for visiting the remote border areas and inspecting the ongoing work of PMGSY, a distance of 103km from Shirui to Kachouphung on April 16, 2021.

SRL president Lungshim Kasar stated that  “the Work Minister and team had a deliberation with the headman and leaders of the area including vice president of TNL. He had assured the border villagers that new alignment from Chamu to Khayang would be carried out in the greater interest of the people in the border area. We are indeed grateful to Work Minister for his vision and service to the people.”

Headman of Khayang village, AS Wunganing Pheirei stated that “the visit of the Work Minister will bring a huge change to the remote areas. He is the first minister to visit the area and we have high hope in his assurance.” He added that the alignment from Chamu and Khayang has been completed and has also submitted the report to the deputy commissioner of Kamjong District.

Since the minister had promised to rectify and improve the road, we expect that the same would be carried out before the onset of monsoon, added Lungshim Kasar.

During his visit, the minister was warmly received by the villagers of Zingsui, Chamu, Roni, Kachouphung and Khayang. The school children and womenfolk clad in traditional attires welcomed the dignitaries at Khayang which is situated near International Border Pillar No 124.
