Phungyonao members in USA donate Rs 3.3 lakh for Manipur’s first church overhaul

Phungyo Baptist Church, Ukhrul, was constructed and established, when reverend William Pettigrew baptised and converted 12 Tangkhul Naga to Protestant Christian Baptist faith in 1901

“Phungyo”, a term derived from “Beautiful Hill” was given by the reverend William Pettigrew. Phungyo Baptist Church, Ukhrul, was the first church of Manipur. It was constructed and established, when reverend William Pettigrew baptised and converted twelve Tangkhul Naga to Protestant Christian Baptist faith in 1901.

Today, members of Phungyo Baptist Church living in the USA donated Rs 3,30,000 for repairing the church ceiling. With love and prayers, the following members Phillip and Shimrei Kashung, Kuinao Zimik, Lummi and Ade Kaping, Thuiya and Yokmi Rumthao, Sochan Rumthao, Worthemmi and Singmi Luikham, John and Rakmi Kurmann, Manish and Janice Chanda, Ningreithan and Lengphy Shaiza and Saman Shaiza have contributed the said amount.

Phungyonao members living in the US also conveyed warm greetings to all the members of Phungyo Baptist Church. They also prayed for the safety of the community and wished good health and protection from Almighty.

The said amount was handed to the pastor of Phungyo Baptist Church, Rev Zaklei Kaping by Ngarung Luikham.

Rev Zaklei Kaping expressed gratitude to the members of Phungyo Church living in the US and wished for God’s blessing upon them and expressed his hope that they would meet soon.
