People’s Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has demanded that the case of a missing 11 year-old girl should be investigated thoroughly without any bias.

In a release on Saturday, PANDM said that the minor girl was reportedly found missing on the evening of June 10, 2021. After the family and localities could not locate her, the information was shared on social media platforms. She was allegedly found inside an SUV (Bolero) parked near Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, early morning on the next day.

According to PANDM, two accused who are allegedly non-Manipuri have been picked up by the police and Investigation is underway. PANDM speculated that there must be a criminal intention behind the case, be it sexual assault or organ trade or otherwise.

PANDM urged the victim and her family to tell the investigating authorities the whole truth without any fear and not to hold back anything. The case should be tried under the Juvenile Justice Act or POCSO and stringent punishment should be given to the perpetrators, it added.

PANDM further suggested that other individuals might also be involved in the crime besides the two accused, including the driver of the SUV, the owner of the rented house amongst others. They should all be interrogated, it demanded.

PANDM also decried the state government for not implementing the ILP System with proper guidelines. The system has become a convenient way of sneaking into the state. Manipur has become a haven for criminals from other states as important documents like Aadhaar card, voter’s ID, etc can be easily obtained here, it argued.
