Noney landslide: Death toll reaches 29, 8 more bodies retrieved, 34 still missing

With eight more bodies being recovered on the third day of rescue operation, the death toll in the massive landslide at the Tupul Yard Railway construction camp near Makhuam (Marangching Part -5) in Noney District of Manipur mounted to 29 on Saturday, an official source said.

According to a list of victims as at 3 pm of Saturday released by Noney Deputy Commissioner Haulianlal Guite, 34 persons including 12 soldiers of 107 TA COB are still missing. Among the eight bodies retrieved on Saturday, five were 107 TA COB soldiers, one Venkata Sai Construction workers and two unidentified persons.
