No entry at Urup, Keirao, Kiyamgei Muslim during night after ‘life attempt’ on locals

Joint Action Committee Against the Life Attempt of Md Rajaoddin and Aslam Khan at Urup, Keirao, Kiyamgei has banned entry to Urup, Keirao and Kiyamgei Muslim areas between 6 pm and 5 am. Those who wish to enter during the period have to take prior permission from zilla parishad, pradhan or member, it added.

Speaking to media persons at Urup Khunou on Tuesday, convenor of the JAC, Shershah said that on April 25 at around 9.30 pm, when Aslam Khan, Md Rajaoddin and his son were out for a walk, four unidentified individuals who came in a car (Hyundai i10) beat up Rajaoddin mercilessly. The strangers started cocking their gun and a life attempt was made, he added.

Locals came out and apprehend three individuals along with a gun, while one escaped. They were handed over to Irilbung Police Station on the same day, according to Shershah. He also said that the three might belong to 16th Assam Rifles.

Unfortunately, no FIR has been lodged by the police in the case yet, he said. He urged the police to take action against the individuals and warned of agitations if the authority fails to take any action.

Shershah also said that the decision to ban entry to Urup, Keirao amadi Kiyamgei Muslim areas was taken to avoid such incidents.
