Thangjam Munindro had served as the Director for Planning Department, government of Manipur from 2011 to December 31, 2020. It may be mentioned, he stood first in the 1987 Manipur Public Service Commission examination and joined the State Planning Department as Research Officer. He was eventually promoted to the post of Director in 2011 and also served as Ex-Officio Joint Secretary for Planning Department till his retirement.

North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has engaged Thangjam Munindro as the State Coordinator for “Monitoring of Central Sector Schemes for MDoNER” in Manipur. The engagement was notified in an appointment order sent from the DoNER Ministry through NEDFi on July 22, 2022.
Following the notification, Thangjam Munindro had also submitted his joining report for the said post on Thursday September 1, 2022. His service period will be only for one year initially but it may be extended depending upon the requirement of the assignment.
Under the new recruitment, Thangjam Munindro will work in close co-ordination with State Government to monitor the progress of various central sponsored schemes, programmes and projects in Manipur. He will keep in-touch with various Project Implementing Agencies to assess the progress, achievements and bottleneck issues faced in laying down the schemes while also reporting back to the MDoNER on the said progress and issues. Overall the Munindro will be the overseer of all Central funded schemes brought into the State of Manipur.
Before joining as the State Coordinator for “Monitoring of Central Sector Schemes for MDoNER”, Thangjam Munindro had served as The Director for Planning Department, Government of Manipur from 2011 to December 31, 2020. It may be mentioned, Thangjam Munindro stood first in the 1987 Manipur Public Service Commission exam and joined the State Planning Department as Research Officer. From there, he climbed on the ranks in the Department from Senior Research Officer in 1996 to Joint Director in 2001 and eventually promoted to the post of Director in 2011. He also served as Ex-Officio Joint Secretary for Planning Department till his retirement.
Besides his departmental achievements, Thangjam Munindro had worked as a resource person for the Minimum Wage Board and 5 percent sample survey under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. He also served as a Secretary for both the Third State Finance Commission and the Fourth State Finance Commission. Munindro is currently serving as a Member in the Internal Committee of NEDFi for the “Preparation of Master Plan on Integrated development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors in Manipur”. He further made key specific contributions in research and analysis of projects undertaken by various department of the State.
Apart from his achievements and contributions as a State official, Thangjam Munindro also has a keenness for the realm of literary writings or expression. Adding to his vast array of remarkable achievements, Munindro is also an avid writer, poet and a thinker with several titles under his belt which include ‘Amanba Yum’ (a collection of poems) and ‘Langtai Langla’. ‘Amanba Yum’ is his first book.
