Nagaland: Man gets 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping minor

The accused was convicted under Section 4 & 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act 2012.

The Special Judge, Fast track Special Court, Dimapur, on Tuesday has convicted a person identified as Tsenyemo Ngullie by sentencing him a rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and also slapped a fine of Rs.20,000 for raping a 10 years old girl child in Dimapur. The judgment order was passed by the Special Judge V Nyekha.

According to the Special Public Prosecutor, Dimapur, Imlimongla, the accused was convicted under Section 4 & 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act 2021.

The case registered in Dimapur Women Police Station was investigated by SI Lucy Doungel and conducted by Special Public Prosecutor, Dimapur. The accused was arrested by personnel of Dimapur Women’s Police Station on October 10, 2017 from Burma Camp, Dimapur, in connection with the rape of a minor basing on an FIR filed against the accused by the victim’s mother on October 9, 2017.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, a divorcee had been committing the crime on different occasions at different places threatening to kill the minor victim if she revealed the truth.
