The upgradation of Shamatore sub-division to full-fledged district and the recognition of Tikhir tribe came after an understanding was reached during a consultative meeting on the issues held on January 13 last in the conference hall of the Nagaland Commissioner, Kohima.

Nagaland government on Friday has decided to upgrade Shamator sub-division after carving it out from the present Tuensang district to a full-fledged district.
Informing this, MLA from 19 Phek A/C, Kuzholuzo Azo Neinu, who took to his official tweeter handle also said that the Nagaland government has also given recognition of the long felt to Tikhir tribe as well.
Its a proud moment for us all that the Government is to up grade Samator Sub Division to that of a full fledged District and also give recognition to Tikhir tribe as well .

Azo later said that it was a proud moment for all that the Nagaland government was to upgrade Shamator sub-division to that of a full-fledged district and also giving recognition to Tikhir tribe as well and later congratulated both the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribe.
The upgradation of Shamatore sub-division to full-fledged district and the recognition of Tikhir tribe came after an understanding was reached during a consultative meeting on the issues held on January 13 last in the conference hall of the Nagaland Commissioner, Kohima.
With elaborate discussions on all the issues being held, and there is good understanding now of each other’s positions, Principal Secretary (Home), Abhijit Sinha, informed that Friday’s meet was convened by Commissioner, Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor, which was attended by MLA Shamator-Chessore A/C, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, KD Vizo, convenor of the 14 Tribes, Nagaland, KT Vilie, and 10 each representatives of YTC and TTC.
It was informed that those attending the meeting after lengthy deliberations, both the tribal councils had come to a level of understanding for the creation of another new district in Nagaland.
However, it was also informed that the final decision on declaring Shamator sub-division as a full-fledged district and also the recognition of Tikhir as a major tribe of the Nagas would be decided by the Nagaland State Cabinet likely to be meeting within a week’s time.
