Nagaland: 21 NPF legislators merge with NDPP

21 NPF legislators led by former Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang stated that they have resolved to merge with the NDPP

In a significant development, the 21 legislators of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) have on Friday merged with the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).


According to a communiqué issued by NLA speaker, the 21 NPF legislators are being led by former Nagaland chief minister, TR Zeliang, who have stated that in their individual letters as well as in the common Resolution adopted that they have merged with the NDPP on Friday.
The communiqué stated that requests have been made by these members to carry out the necessary changes in the relevant records as per the rules and added that a letter dated April 29, 2022, has also been received from the president, NDPP, accepting the merger.
The NLA speaker therefore, considering the mentioned circumstances, commissioner and secretary, NLA, has been directed to publish the revised summary of information as per the rules and correct the party affiliation of the mentioned members in relevant records. Any petition under paragraph 6 of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution of India, if preferred against any of the mentioned members, the same shall be considered separately as per procedure, added the communiqué.
Apart from TR Zeliang, the other twenty members included Moatoshi Longkumer, Azheto Zhimomi, Keneizhakho Nakhro, Y Vikheho Swu, Chotisuh Sazo, Yitachu, Amenba Yaden, Dr Imtiwapang, Imkong L Imchen, Er Picto Shohe, Dr Chumben Murry, YM Yollow, CL John, N Thongwang Konyak, Eshak Konyak, EE
Pangteang, BS Nganglang Phom, Muthingnyuba Sangtam, Toyang Chang and Kejong Chang.
