Acknowledging the newly appointed governor of Nagaland and also the interlocutor to the protracted Naga peace talk, AK Mishra, for showing utmost “urgency” with an effort to bring the “political talks” to a logical conclusion, the 14 tribal hohos of Nagaland headquartered in Kohima on Sunday urged all negotiating entities to wrap up the process of “signing an agreement” without further delay.

Unanimously reaffirming their earlier position and stand on “Naga Solution”, an emergency meeting of the 14 tribal hohos of Nagaland was held on October 16 at Commissioner’s Guest House, Kohima.

In a statement, the 14 tribal hohos said the meeting resolved that “any threat or intimidation” to the tribal hoho leaders and other Naga civil society leaders by any group(s) would not be tolerated.

The 14 tribal hohos also pointed out that any resolution(s) adopted by the Naga Hoho should not be taken into “consideration or treated” as the voice of the Nagas of Nagaland “as not a single Naga tribe of Nagas of Nagaland is a part of or affiliated to Naga Hoho”.

Stating that anything that is for the Nagas of Nagaland would be determined only by the tribal hohos of Nagaland, the 14 tribal hohos of Nagaland said that the October 16 emergency meet also reaffirmed that they would stand united for the larger interests of the Nagas for an early solution.

The hohos also appealed to all the negotiating parties that any part of the “agreement” that is to be implemented in Nagaland should be made known to the tribal hohos of Nagaland before the final solution is signed.
