Murder of KRA chief, his bodyguard: Three accused arrested

The self-styled chief of the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) and his bodyguard were shot dead by unknown people at his residence in Saikul under Kangpokpi district on April 29.

Three alleged murderers of the KRA chief and his bodyguard have been arrested from Nagaland and brought back to Manipur.

The three accused in the double murder case have been identified as — Satminthang Hangshing (34) s/o (L) Lalpao Hangshing of Lhungtin village, Lamginlal a.k.a. Lalcha Chongloi (38) s/o Lunsat Chongloi of Lhungtin village, and Lunginhao a.k.a. Robert Hangshing (33) s/o Jiten of Phaikon VIll, Kangpokpi district. They were apprehended by 36 Assam Rifles at Lilen-B village, Peren district, Nagaland on June 2, according to Kangpokpi police.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Kangpokpi police comprising Addl SP (L/O) and OC Saikul PS under the supervision of SP Kangpokpi are investigating the murder of KRA chief Janggin Baite a.k.a. Andy or Jetlee (42) s/o (L) Tongpao Baite and Lamginlen Hangshing (22) s/o (L) Hellal Hangshing of Tingpibung VIll. registered at Saikul PS. The accused persons were arrested from Peren district Nagaland and brought back to Kangpokpi by the SIT.

The arrested persons were produced before the court on Thursday and remanded to police custody for 10 days for further investigation.
