MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency Khashim Vashum has inaugurated the barrack type teacher’s quarter at Kachai Shimphungrim. The inauguration programme on Thursday was attended by former ADC-Ukhrul executive member Paothing Vashum, ADC-Ukhrul members Thuingahan Pheirim and Thanchipem Jagoi and ADC-Ukhrul CEO Polly Makan. The six-room barrack-type teacher’s quarter is constructed under SPA (Third Phase).

Khashim Vashum stated, “This is my first visit and I will be visiting again in the coming days. I am enchanted by the beautiful location of this village. This is an ideal location for bringing up children. Through unity you can excel in the future.”

Khqshim Vashum promised to extend 10 bundles of CGI sheets for the construction of the church office and pastor’s quarter of Kachai Shimphungrim Baptist Church.

Thuingahan Pheirim expressed gratitude to the work agency for the construction as per work specification. He added that mental, spiritual and infrastructure are the three main ingredients for the development of any society.

Polly Makan stated that “the target of ADC-Ukhrul is to construct every teachers’ quarter in every village irrespective of big or small village. No children should be deprived of education. The construction of teachers’ quarter will be fruitful if the villagers manage this property as their own. This is your property, use it judiciously and may it prosper.”

Kachai Shimphungrim chairman Reithingpam Zingkhai informed that the villagers first started settling in 1947. At present, the village has 16 households with a total population of 76 and 46 voters. He further added that there are four government employees and two retired government employees from their village.

Reithingpam Zingkhai expressed that the visit of MLA “is indeed a blessing for this small village”. Due to poor road connectivity, we are facing hardships especially during rainy seasons. The Ihang River rises steeply during monsoon and our village road connecting to others are completely cut off from the rest of the world. In this regard, the village development committee submitted a memorandum for construction of mini-bridge at Langshang, Ihang River between Kachai Shimphungrim and Lamyim Phungdhar village.

Kachai Shimphungrim Primary School was established in 1955. In 2010, one room was constructed under SSA. Last year, there were 15 students, and one headmistress to run the school.
