Despite the unfavorable weather condition, many people turned up to get vaccinated during the mass vaccination drive at 9 Miles Poudel Basti in Kangpokpi AC on Tuesday.
The mass vaccination drive initiated by local MLA Nemcha Kipgen was organised by COVID Task Force Irang area in collaboration with the medical department.
Organisational general secretary of BJP Manipur state Abhay Kumar Giri also joined Nemcha Kipgen visiting the mass vaccination at 9 Miles Poudel Basti while various other BJP leaders, former ADC Sadar Hills members from Irang area, Central COVID Task Force, etc. also partake in the vaccination drive.
Altogether, 262 people were vaccinated with Covishield during the drive, the highest vaccination done on a single day in just one vaccination site, so far in Kangpokpi district breaking the previous record of 310 at Hengbung.
Apart from the vaccination drive, BJP leaders and workers commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by planting tree saplings in the surrounding area of the vaccination site.
Local MLA Nemcha Kipgen also distributed essential items such as rice and dal to hundreds of non-ration card holders in the Irang area. COVID Awareness program was also conducted near the vaccination site.
Abhay Kumar Giri said that they have decided to plan around 60,000 tree saplings in Manipur in connection with the observation of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s death anniversary.
He said that BJP workers come forward to help others risking their own lives during the pandemic but you will not find any other party doing the same.
While exhorting the people for vaccination, Abhay Kumar Giri said that to avoid the pain of Corona fatality we all must get vaccinated at the earliest.
“People failed to understand the value of Covishield vaccine as the Government is providing free of cost”, said Abhay K. Giri while adding that Covishield vaccine is not free but a “Gift” to the people from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, Nemcha Kipgen said that the vaccine will play as our security while adding that the vaccine provided by our Prime Minister is the best vaccine so far in the world.
