Manipur COVID Curfew: Home delivery service, banking, sale of fish, milk, poultry permitted

The new permitted activities are subject to observation of social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitization norms strictly.

Four days after the Manipur Government clamped curfew in seven districts — Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Ukhrul, in view of the steep increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in these districts, the state government permitted certain activities on Tuesday, in addition to this existing exemption. 

The Home Department issued an order late Tuesday night. 

The new permitted activities, subject to observation of social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitization norms strictly are:

  • Child Protection Services (Orphanages, Children Homes, Observation Homes, etc.)
  • Home delivery services under ICDS/ICPS (supplementary nutrition for children, pregnant & lactating mothers)
  • Home delivery of various goods and services (food items, vegetables, groceries, medicines, etc.) including ecommerce platforms; iv) Services of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, Finance Department & Treasuries with minimal staff
  • Banking services with limited staff on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm for government and non-government transactions;
  • ATM services
  • Sale of fish feed/animal feed; milk and milk products; fish, poultry and poultry products from 7 am to 2 pm, for purchase by locals

The order stated that the complete closure of certain critical services has led to difficulty in provision of government services or undue hardship to the public, and the matter has been reviewed and it has been considered appropriate to permit certain activities / services, subject to adequate terms and conditions, it added.
