Manipur 2022: Churachandpur Police Seize Arms, Ammunition, Cash From Suspected Workers of BJP MLA Ginsuanhau Zou

As per sources, the arrested persons were also suspected to be involved in the Muallum and Singhat violent incidents on February 16, 2022 where the KPA public rally was allegedly disrupted by BJP supporters and ZRA armed cadres.

With poll related violent incidents reported across the state as election days approached, the Churachandpur police on Monday midnight arrested four individuals believed to be workers of incumbent BJP MLA Ginsuanhau Zou of 60-Singhat (ST) AC, along with firearms, ammunition and cash.

According to the police, on Monday night the Churachandpur District Police, under the supervision of SP Shivanand Surve, Addl SP Deshorjit Singh, and OC Ingocha Singh, conducted frisking and checking at different places in the district as a preventive and detection measures in connection with the incoming State Assembly Election 2022.

At Around 11:10 pm the police team on duty at Kullian area (Singngat Subdivision) along Tiddim Road, stopped and frisked an SUV (Toyota Fortuner, white in colour). The team seized one Clock 19 C- AUSTRIA , PAD 653 – 9mm pistol with one magazine with eight live rounds and some cash from the possession of the occupants of the SUV.

The four occupants were arrested and had been identified as Mang David Khongsai (42) s/o Zamkholian of Sangaikot, Churachandpur; Khuptulchin Mautuang (32) s/o Khanpao of Khuainuoi Village, Sangaikot; Thangneipao Mate (34) s/o Late Nangchinkhup of Buangmun Lamkhai Village, Singngat; and Zamkholian Mate (50) s/o Late Chingzahau of Zoujang, Lanva Block, Churachandpur.

The SUV, bearing Regd No. MN06L- 3275, belonged to Mang David, from whom Rs. 78,000 of cash was also seized by the police. The 9mm pistol was seized from Thangneipao Mate and Rs 50,000 cash from Zamkholian Mate.

The arrested persons along with the seized items were being handed over to the OC Singhat PS for further necessary legal action.
