The Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Henglep Block on Tuesday lashed out at Churachandpur police for the alleged arrest and alleged physical tortured of Mangtinlal Haokip, chief of Henglep by Churachandpur Police on night of 28 March, 2022.

In a Press statement, KSO Henglep Block secretary Thangchinkhup Haokip said it is perturbed and filled with indignation over the police action.

The statement alleged that Mangtinlal Haokip was arrested, without arrest warrant, by Churachandpur Police from Tulbuong Bazaar, Churachandpur at 9 PM on the behest of one Sub Inspector of Police on his personal vendetta. Upon reaching the police station, the police started verbal abuse and physical torture without informing him as to why he has been arrested nor giving him the chance to testify his side of the story.

The acts of the police are highly despicable, truly abhorrent, utterly outrageous and cannot be justified on any basis whatsoever, it said.

Condemning the “barbaric acts” in the strongest term, KSO), Henglep Block asked what crime he has committed leading to his arrest. It also sought explanation from Churachandpur Police why he has been arrested by the police without arrest warrant.

Moreover, the organisation demanded prompt action against police personnel and the Officer(s) on whose personal interest the Chief was arrested and tortured without any rhyme or reason at the earliest.

Failing to heed our demands, the KSO/Henglep Block cannot be held responsible for any spontaneous ugly aftermath(s), the statement said.
