Japanese funds for ‘forest ecosystem’ management in Nagaland

With the High Power Committee (HPC) Nagaland Forest Management Project Society (NFMPS), called on a review meeting on Tuesday with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, said that the meet was very important in the context of the state in order to
project “satisfactorily” in the state.

Having held the review meeting with the HPC, NFMPS-JICA, at his official conference hall, Kohima, Alam said that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s project has been implemented satisfactorily in Nagaland.

Stating that the main the main objective of the “project’ was to improve forest’s “eco-system” and also to support income generating by way of “rehabilitation” of the Jhum areas and provisions of “livelihood” support, Alam, meanwhile, has also encouraged the “team” to have a “portal” where all collected data could be uploaded in order to analyzed without delay.

Also calling for a “convergence” of departments concerned for the success of all the projects in the State, Alam opted for a “concrete strategy” for the same should be at place.

Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, in his concluding remarks stated that “good suggestions” and “decisions” were made in the meeting and at the same time opined that the High Powered Committee (HPC) should meet more often to review the progress of the project.

Meanwhile, it was also learnt that the Annual Work Plan (AWP) for the financial year 2022-23 were presented in the meeting.
