Condemning fratricidal killing taking place within the Naga family Naga Hoho on Thursday said killing of Lt. Athuan Abonmai, the former President of “Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN)” is a cowardice act and deserves condemnation by every right thinking citizen whatever be the rhymes or reason. “Whatsoever the differences we may have, killing is not the answer nor solution to any disagreement,” it added.
In a press condemnation issued by media cell, Naga Hoho said, “While the Naga Civil Societies were struggling all these years for unity and reconciliation among the Nagas, it is disturbing and unfortunate to hear the news of fratricidal killing taking place within the Naga family.”
Invoking the teaching of Christianity which talks about God’s creation of humankind in His image and God does give life, it is God alone can take it away, Naga Hoho said, “We belief that all human life is sacred and that the sanity of life is a very important elements of the Christian faith.”
It further said, “Every political group must not forget to respect the people’s sentiments to avoid killings, kidnapping or unnecessary harassment to the innocent public. The need of the hour is reconciliation among the divided society to resolve the common issue at the earliest for a better future.”
It appealed to all political groups to shun the path of violence and come forward to work for the peace to prevail in their land.
Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front, Manipur State issued a condolence message. In the condolence message, the party said it is shocked to learn of the sudden demise of (L) Athuan Abonmai, who was one of the members of NPF who worked tirelessly for the growth of the party.
“He served as general secretary of the party for two years, from January 2013 to December 2014. He also contested the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2012 as an NPF candidate from 52 (ST) Tamei Assembly Constituency. The NPF will always remember his contribution to the party during his tenure,” it said.
“The party share the pain and sorrow at his untimely demise and pray to the Almighty God to comfort and console his family and give them the strength to bear this great lost,” said the condolence message issued by NPF president Awangbow Newmai and general secretary (Adm) Hongreikhui Kashung.
