The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group (KCP-PWG) has announced a “public curfew” on the premises of the office of the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) as a renewed stringent measure of its earlier restrictions on MPP leaders.

The People’s War Group (Marxist Centre), in a release on Wednesday, said that it has taken four resolutions to make MPP a strong “regional political force”.

First, until the imbroglio inside the MPP is resolved, the People’s War Group (Marxist Centre) urged the shopkeepers of the MPP shopping complex to not pay any kind of rent. If anyone is found defying this will be banned permanently from running a shop in the complex and above that he or she has to pay the outfit three times the amount, it warned.

Secondly, the proscribed outfit said that those MPP leaders who are lobbying to different individuals or organisations should stop it immediately. If anyone is found defying it, the proscribed outfit will give a fitting reply without delay, it said.

Thirdly, the People’s War Group (Marxist Centre) said that the outcome of the court in regard to the cases pending over the leadership would be null and void. The decision of the Strategical Core Committee (SCC) would be final, it added.

And finally, the release said that the People’s War Group (Marxist Centre) will endorse and support someone who can dedicate and work towards making MPP a true regional party and loves the motherland. He or she will be recognised as the leader of MPP and would be allowed to sit in the office, said the proscribed outfit.

The release said the MPP which used to be a prominent regional party in the 1960’s has hit its nadir in recent times. It blamed the “opportunists” who called themselves as leaders of the party and had their eyes only on the funds generated through the rent of the shopping complex for the downfall.

The outfit also said that it is unfortunate that leaders of a party which is supposed to work in steering the land towards the right direction are involved in petty tussle over the rents of the shops. It also warned of dire consequences if anyone defies the public curfew on the MPP office premises.

The People’s War Group (Marxist Centre) further said that it knew who are standing behind those who are proudly sitting in the office at the moment. The imbroglio inside the MPP is a matter of “opportunities-contradiction”, it opined.
