Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday termed the joining of its two former MLAs to BJP recently as unconstitutional as they have not resigned as MLA.

While RK Imo Singh is an MLA without affiliation to any party, Yamthong Haokip is a Congress MLA. But they have not resigned as an MLA till Wednesday, said MPCC vice president Kh Devbrata while addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, Imphal.

Devbrata also called out the hypocrisy of chief minister N Biren Singh who had reportedly said on Tuesday, during a function, that the time of changing political parties is gone, while the duo joined BJP on Monday. He urged CM Biren to clarify on the matter.

The MPCC vice president also refuted the claims made by BJP state unit president A Sharda Devi that the “Congress Mukt Bharat” was going on successfully in Manipur.

Devbrata maintained that the Congress’ fortune is rising again across the country, citing the poll results of the recently held by election in some states.
