Government extends Internet Ban For 5 More Days Till June 30

Like the previous order, the order issued on Sunday stated that the step was taken to “thwart the design and activities of anti-national and anti-social elements” and hence the decision on “further suspension, curbing of mobile data services, internet/data services including broadband viz. Reliance Jio Fiber. Airtel Xtreme Black, BSNL, FTTH, Internet Lease Line (ILL) etc. and internet, data” etc.

The government of Manipur on Sunday extended ban on mobile and broadband internet again by another five days till 3 Pm on June 30 to prevent any disturbances of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of the state.

Like the previous order, the order issued on Sunday stated that the step was taken to “thwart the design and activities of anti-national and anti-social elements” and hence the decision on “further suspension, curbing of mobile data services, internet/data services including broadband viz. Reliance Jio Fiber. Airtel Xtreme Black, BSNL, FTTH, Internet Lease Line (ILL) etc. and internet, data” etc. “Any person found guilty for violation of aforesaid orders will be liable for legal action” said the order.

The Manipur High Court has directed the state government to restore partial internet services in certain designated areas. The court noted that people in the state are facing hardships due to the internet ban, especially students who are facing difficulties with the ongoing admission processes.
