COVID Vaccination: 100 individuals inoculated on first day in Churachandpur

Minister Vungzagin Valte lauded the district administration, medical doctors and frontline workers who risked their life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tribal Affairs and Hills minister Vungzagin Valte, who is also in-charge of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, launched COVID-19 vaccination drive for Churachandpur district on Saturday at Churachandpur District Hospital Campus and gave out the vaccination certificate to the first three beneficiaries of Covishield injection. The program was organised by District Administration, Health Department and District Health Society, Churachandpur.

Before the historic event of launching the COVID-19 vaccine, one minute silence was observed in memory and honour of the people who have died from coronavirus and all the valiant efforts that were made on their behalf, according to a release. 

Churachandpur district received 210 vials or 2100 doses of Covishield vaccines. Out of 3399 persons registered for vaccination, 100 persons from health department were inoculated. 

Speaking on the occasion as the minister lauded the district administration, medical doctors and frontline workers who risked their life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi for making Covishield available through his guidance and efforts, the minister said that India is not legging behind other countries in the fight against the coronavirus. The minister also urged the people to understand and follow the guidelines associated with the administration of this vaccine and not to put the blame on the medical departments.

Speaking to the media persons on the sideline of the event regarding income tax deduction, the minister said that the DDOs of departments of government of Manipur and its PSUs have been instructed to intimate the exempted list of employees on the record of their service books to the income tax office. Tribals working in the specified areas are exempted by section 10(26) of Income Tax Act, 1961 and there is no question of submitting ST certificate every year, he added.

Churachandpur AC MLA V Hangkhanlian, Singngat A/C MLA Ginsuanhau Zou and MANIRADA chairman graced the function as functional president, guest of honour and chief host respectively apart from Mannuamching, DC, Pherzawl, Khaikhopau, ADC, Churachandpur, Dr Sreedhar, WHO consultant from Centre, district level officers and public leaders attended the event, the release added.
