COVID-19 Manipur: With 12 deaths reported, death toll surpasses 900

During a mass testing at Thoubal Bazar, out of 82 persons tested, 17 persons were found positive for COVID-19.

With 12 deaths on Tuesday, the total COVID-19 deaths in Manipur has reached 908. A total of 748 new cases out of 8,928 tests were reported in the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Tuesday. The daily positivity rate dipped to 8.38 per cent. 

Of the 12 deaths reported by the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee, four each were from Imphal East and Imphal West, two from Churachandpur, and one each from Bishnupur and Thoubal. They died at RIMS (2), JNIMS (1), Shija Hospital (5), Raj Medicity (2), and DH Churachandpur (2).

As per the Health Department, the positive cases from the general population are — 205 from Imphal West, 162 from Imphal East, 120 from Thoubal, 66 from Churachandpur, 63 from Bishnupur, 52 from Kakching, 17 each from Chandel, Jiribam, and Tengnoupal, seven each from Tamenglong and Senapati, six from Kangpokpi, four from Pherzawl, two each from Kamjong and Ukhrul, and one from Noney. 

On Tuesday, 579 persons were discharged — 395 from home isolation, 29 from RIMS (25) and JNIMS (4) and 155 from other COVID care facilities. The recovery rate is 82.23 per cent. 

The total number of infections in the state has reached 56,576. Out of the 9,142 active cases at present, 4,140 are in home isolation. 

Meanwhile, mass testing for COVID-19 of vegetable vendors, shopkeepers, customers and curfew violators were conducted at Thoubal Bazar by the Thoubal District team of SP Thoubal S Ibomcha  Singh, SDPO Thoubal Johny Sharma, OsC Thoubal  PS, Women, Dr Ilowar and his team on Tuesday. 

Out of 82 persons tested, 17 persons were tested positive for COVID-19. SP Thoubal also gave awareness to the COVID-19 positive persons.

Oxygen Status

According to the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1672 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 549 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur. District Hospitals and Government institutions have 354D, 76B filled cylinders; out of these —
