Congress girds up loins for 2022 Manipur election, forms several panels

While MPCC president N Loken Singh has been appointed as the chairman of the Pradesh Election Committee, Former chief minister and CLP leader O Ibobi will head the Election Management Team and Campaign Committee.

Eying the Manipur general election slated to be held in early 2022, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday constituted several committees.

The Congress president has approved the constitution of the Coordination Committee, Campaign Committee, Pradesh Election Committee, Media Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee, Publicity Committee, Finance Committee, and Election Management Team of MPCC, as per a release by the AICC general secretary KC Venugopal issued on Wednesday.

MPCC president N Loken Singh has been appointed as the chairman of the Pradesh Election Committee. AICC in-charge of Manipur, AICC secretary in-charge of Manipur and heads of all frontal organisations will be the ex-officio members of the committee.

Former chief minister and CLP leader O Ibobi will head the Election Management Team and Campaign Committee.

CWC member Gaikhangam has been appointed as the chairman of the Manifesto Committee and heads of frontal organisations, departments and cells will be the ex-officio members of the committee.

While former minister K Ranjit will head the Finance Committee, the Coordination Committee will be headed by Dr Chaltolian Amo.

Former minister Kh Ratankumar Singh has been appointed as the chairman of the Media Coordination Committee. K Devabrata Singh and Hareshwar Goshwami have been appointed as the convenor and co-convenor of the committee.

The Publicity Committee will be headed by Ak Mirabai Devi and K Meghachandra will be the co-chairman of the committee.

On the other hand, a series of meetings have been scheduled with the committees and Bhakta Charan Das, former Union minister (AICC) in-charge Manipur, Jairam Ramesh, former union minister and election observer of Manipur (AICC), Pranav Vaccharajini, national convenor, Social Media (AICC) and Ranajit Mukherjee, secretary, Research Dept. (AICC).

The meetings have been scheduled at Congress Bhawan, Imphal, Manipur to strengthen the party, stated a release by MPCC.
