The Churachandpur police acted on reliable information that one Ramkinlo Joute (56) and some unknown associates had been issuing fake driving licences since the past many months.

Churachandpur police have busted a fake driving licence racket. The mastermind and some of his associates have also been arrested and several materials used in printing or making fake driving licences seized.

According to the Churachandpur police, they received reliable information on June 9, 2021 that one Ramkinlo Joute (56) of M. Ramthar village, Churachandpur and some unknown associates had been issuing fake driving licences for the past many months.

A team of Churachandpur Police Station led by OC Inspector N.b Thangzamuan under the guidance of senior officers rushed to M. Ramthar village area and identified the house of Ramkinlo Joute. On searching his house, the police team recovered eight fake driving licenses issued in the name of DTO/CCP, 3+1 tampered DL and RC (chips removed), four DLs and two RCs. The recovered articles were seized by observing formalities, according to the police.

A suo motu case under FIR No.64(6)2021 CCP-PS u/s 468/471/474 IPC was registered. In this connection, the CCP Police has arrested the main accused and his accomplice Philem Ibungo Meetei (45) of Khuga Tampak and recovered various printing materials from his shop — Inungnganbi’s Computer Works, located at Zoveng junction, Teddim Road, Churachandpur. Further investigation is on.
