The Observance Committee, 20th The Great June Uprising, Unity Day – 2021 on Thursday organised a one day blood donation camp at RIMS and JNIMS. The committee is formed by two major CSOs of the state — AMUCO and UCM.

Appreciating the initiative, RIMS director L Shanta stressed on the importance of blood in saving lives. He added that the blood donation camp will help patients who are in need of blood.

The Observance Committee chairman Pheiroijam Nando said that the camp was being organised in honour of the martyrs who laid down their lives 20 years ago. It will also help those in need of blood, he added.

Certificates were also distributed to the blood donors in appreciation. The main event remembering that fateful day on June 18, 2001 will be held on Friday at Kekrupat, Imphal. 18 individuals from different backgrounds lost their lives while protesting against the extension of the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and NSCN (I-M) “without territorial limit”. The three words were later removed from the agreement.
