Celebrated as the ‘Peoples’ Movement’ across the country, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a series of events organised by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day next year.

On the momentous occasion of Patriots Day on Friday, the Jwalamukhi Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR-E organised an inspiring bike rally as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ traversing through multiples villages of Senapati, Kangpokpi, and Imphal West districts which also heralded upcoming India’s auspicious 74th Independence Day celebration on August 15.

Seventy-five weeks ahead of 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on March 12, 2021, commemorating 91 years of Dandi March. The father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, 91 years ago, started the Dandi March on March 12, 1930, from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi protesting against the British monopoly on salt production.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be in turn converted into a Jan Andolan.
The Assam Rifles Bike Rally was flagged from Lairouching in Senapati District by Brigadier PS Arora, Commander 22 Sector Assam Rifles. The bike rally then, made its way through multiples villages of Kangpokpi, Thonglang Akutpa, Saparmeina, Saikul, Khurkhul, Kangchup, and Motbung in Kangpokpi District and also reached some places in Imphal West District as well.
Altogether, the bike rally covered a distance of 272 Km during the inspiring bike rally which was also participated by the women’s Assam Rifles personnel.
The participants in the AR’s bike rally were felicitated and warmly welcomed along the route by the local populace, leaders of various civil society organizations, ex-servicemen and children of various age groups.
At Kangpokpi 38 Assam Rifles Post, the local populace and local civil bodies leaders including ex-servicemen and children had a brief interaction with the Assam Rifles officials while AR’s women personnel were also seen presenting cap and Indian flag to the children who greeted the bike rally while coming down from Thonglang Akutpa.
Apart from heralding the celebration of India’s 75th Independence Day celebration next year, the bike rally also aimed to generate awareness and importance about the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day and inculcate a sense of pride among the locals during the Independence Day celebration this year.
