ATSUM, TWA shower praise on Mirabai, say excellent example for all women in India

Five athletes from Manipur are participating in the ongoing Tokyo Games, 2020 — Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting, MC Mary Kom in boxing, Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu and Nilakanta Sharma in women’s and men’s hockey respectively, and Likmabam Sushila in judo.

The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur and the Thadou Women’s Association General Headquarters conveyed extreme happiness upon Saikhom Mirabai Chanu for the opening medal for India in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, 2020.

ATSUM youth affairs and sports secretary Lamcha Chongloi said that the daughter of the soil makes not only the state proud but the nation as a whole by clinching a Silver medal in the Olympic games, and indeed it is a proud moment for the state.

He continued that ATSUM also prayed to the Almighty for another five athletes from the state representing the great nation in the Tokyo Olympics, 2020 to perform well and bring laurels to make India proud in general and our state in particular.

He pointed out that out of a total of 127 athletes from India, the other five Manipur athletes excluding Saikhom Mirabai Chanu are MC Mary Kom in boxing, Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu and Nilakanta Sharma in women’s and men’s hockey respectively, and Likmabam Sushila in judo. ATSUM wishes them the very best and good luck.

Meanwhile, the Thadou Women’s Association General Headquarters proudly expressed sincere appreciation and congratulation upon Saikhom Mirabai Chanu on winning the Silver Medal in Women’s 49 Kg category Weightlifting on July 24 in the ongoing Olympics held in Tokyo.

TWA General Headquarters secretary-general Roina Kipgen said that you (Mirabai Chanu) conquered fear and won your race for the Nation, well-deserved and successfully, pleased to see you accomplishing great things.While heartily congratulating Mirabai Chanu on her immense success, the Thadou Women’s Association prays and wishes her more success in her future endeavours while adding that she is the most excellent example for all the women in India.
