Like every year the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) is organising the Realisation Day on April 17 and the student urged the people of the state to join in observing the day and also their support.

Briefing the media on Tuesday at the AMSU Headquarter, DMU campus, Thangmeiband, AMSU secretary general Bikramjit Thongam said that the 41st observance of the day will begin at 10:00 am by paying floral tributes at Pishum Chingamacha. Afterwards, a rally will be taken out towards Manipur College and the main function will be held at the Multi Purpose Hall of the college. A Mega Blood Donation Camp will also be held at the college campus, he added.

Bikramjit maintained that ever since the regulation to check the influx of outsiders in the state, which had a history of independence for more than 2000 years, was revoked in 1950, several forces have been influencing the state.

In 1980 an intense agitation was launched by the AMSU along with the people of the state to drive out the outsiders from the state. Potsangbam Lukhoi (Premananda) and Huidrom Loken lost their lives in the agitation. Ever since AMSU has been observing the Realization Day, he added.
