Maintaining that the NSCN (I-M) is totally committed to the Indo-Naga ceasefire agreement and the historic Framework Agreement to “peacefully coexist with India as two friendly entities”, the Naga outfit called upon the MHA to stop the AR from over indulgence in freewheeling raids against NSCN members.

National Socialist Council of Nagalim or NSCN (I-M) on Tuesday accused the Assam Rifles (AR) of “bulldozing any agreed rules” and said that the agreement signed on the June 14, 2002 between the NSCN (I-M) and Government of India (GoI) on “Ceasefire without territorial limit” has not been honored in spirit and action. Ironically, this “nuisance” of the AR to dampen the ceasefire spirit never ends and it has become the eyesore of the Indo-Naga political dialogue, it said.

A release by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of the NSCN (I-M) said that on April 4, 2021, AR personnel raided the residence of Lentherie, Kilonser in Dimapur at midnight. Significantly, he is a member of the Cease Fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC). Such a raid is unwarranted and simply puts the AR in a bad light for arbitrarily violating the agreed Cease Fire Ground Rules (CFGRs), it added.

The AR claims that raids are carried out under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), GoI. This simply demeans the office of the chairman of the CFMG or the CFGRs, the outfit said.

Peaceful atmosphere and political talk cannot be separated, it added.

“It is, however, regretted that the critical importance of maintaining cordial relationship between the AR/MHA and NSCN is not respected as demanded by the need to resolve the Indo-Naga political issue at the earliest.”

The release further said that the AR personnel conducted unwarranted raids in many houses all over Nagalim. It is also surprising that the AR repeatedly raided the same house where nothing incriminating or illegal items were recovered. The AR should not look to NSCN (I-M) with criminal intent as the zenith of the CFGRs violations is exposed when even the houses of the CFMC members are raided by the AR forces, it asserted.
