Pawar said that he was here in Dimapur to know the grievances faced by passengers from Dimapur and address the same within the department as according to him priorities have to be given to passengers travelling for a safe and secure journey.

Maintaining that the railways in the Northeast have never been affected by security concerns, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC), Lumding Division, Uday Singh Pawar on Wednesday said that despite giving its best to security reasons at the moment, it is the responsibility/ duty of the state government to secure a safe journey for the rail passengers.

Addressing media persons at the Dimapur Railway Station VIP Lounge, Pawar said that he was here in Dimapur to know the grievances faced by passengers from Dimapur and address the same within the department as according to him priorities have to be given to passengers travelling for a safe and secure journey.

On the sideline of the press conference, Pawar highlighted the achievement (s) done by the RPF concerning seizing and smuggling of contraband and liquor, rescue and recovery of children and women which according to him is valued at more than Rs 10.47 crore.

Concerned with the trafficking of children and women, Pawar disclosed that 61 including minor boys and girls were rescued from 2021 till February this year and handed over to Childline Dimapur, while also informing that 11 cases were registered against 14 persons for stone pelting on passenger trains since 2023 and of which seven persons have been arrested till February this year.
