A monolith dedicated to the cine-workers and artists of the state is going to be unveiled as part of the inaugural function.

Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) is all set for the inaugural function of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipuri cinema. MSFDS has been gearing up on various fronts for a successful celebration.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh who is also the chairman of the MSFDS will be inaugurating the celebration on Friday morning. The chief minister will also unveil a 20 – feet tall monolith at the premises of MSFDS, a release said.
Acclaimed filmmaker of Assam Manju Borah and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder director of Film Heritage Foundation will be the guests of honour, and deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar Sing will be the president of the inaugural function.
MSFDS said that the monolith is a dedication to the cine-workers and artists of the state. Measuring around 20 feet, the giant stone from Henglep will be a part of the monument to be unveiled as part of the inaugural day. The first phase of the celebration will last for eight days.
MSFDS appealed to the public, particularly cine-lovers to take part in the inaugural day of the celebration. Floral tributes will also be paid to the monolith in remembrance and respect to those cine-workers who have dedicated their artistic talents for the growth of Manipuri cinema. People of the state are warmly welcomed to take part in the opening ceremony, the release added.
Main highlights of the function are – honouring the pioneers of Manipuri cinema, releasing of the Golden Jubilee souvenir, and inauguration of film archive vault and laboratory room and screening of the first Manipuri feature film, Matamgi Manipur. The function will be held in strict adherence to the SOP guidelines of COVID 19, it added.
