District police and Divisional Forest Office have been authorised to initiate action against any defaulter as per rules.

Bishnupur DC Neeta Arambam re-affirmed the banning of quarrying or excavation of any type of material from the riverbed of the Thongjaorok river along with its entire stretch falling under Bishnupur District until further orders in the interest of the general public. District police and Divisional Forest Office have been authorised to initiate action against any defaulter as per rules.
In an office memo, the deputy commissioner said that a representation was submitted by the president of the Citizens Development Forum Bishnupur, Manipur on January 20, 2021 requesting to ban quarrying along the intake area of the Thongjaorok river.
The office of the DC had earlier banned quarrying or excavation of any kind from the riverbed of Thongjaorok river vide order of January 10, 2018. But even with the existence of the order quarrying or excavation activities continued along the banned area till date, it added.
The office memo also informed that quarrying is prohibited in the country under the direction of the National Green Tribunal Number 171 of 2013 without obtaining environment clearance from MOFT/SEIAA and clearance from the Competent Authority.
