The intending candidate from Ward No 9 which comprises of four colonies, Khesheto Kiho, on Monday said that he decided to contest the ensuing municipal elections keeping in mind to let the community be the first in every aspect as he is in the fray for the community. He was addressing many of his supporters at the declaration of his candidacy at Vikiye Centre, Supply Colony, Dimapur.
Khesheto Kiho, who has been the General Secretary of the Tribal Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (TICCI), Nagaland State, since 2020, is a Class 1 contractor with the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD). His political career includes serving as the President of the BJP ST Morcha for Dimapur district from 2018 to 2023, the State Secretary for the NPF Youth Wing Central in 2017, the President of the NPF Youth Wing Dimapur, the Vice-President of the NPF Youth Wing Dimapur district from 2013 to 2016, and the Secretary of the NPF Youth Wing Dimapur district from 2012 to 2013.
He mentioned that his main focus is to work alongside the many who have been deprived of opportunities by not holding a “post or position” but to understand their very grievances which can be addressed and have been kept in abeyance for the last 20 years since the last ULB and town council elections held in the state.

He emphasized that, in addition to addressing common grievances such as water supply, electricity, and issues in the education and healthcare systems, his focus is also on ensuring that the community’s voice is heard.
Though he was denied the BJP ticket to serve people, however, the independent candidate, felt that it is a blessing in disguise and called upon all Nagas to change their mindset by citing that one needs to introspect rather than retrospect for a change in the Naga society.
He further went on to add that if he is elected, a plan on various issues including drainage systems will be implemented by inviting experts to oversee the problems.
