6 cadres killed in PLA intra-factional clash: Report

The clashes took place at Nayang Wakathan camp of the banned NSCN (K) Yung Aung group which is reportedly located on the other side of Pangsau Pass in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. A report said that the cadres of the proscribed PLA of Manipur were taking shelter on a “payment basis”.

Six cadres of the proscribed People Liberation Army cadres were reportedly killed following intra factional clashes on August 10. The report said some of the identified cadres who were killed in the incident include Major Boycha, Leimba, Angamba, Tanthouba, Tomcha and Suresh at the time of filing this story. Earlier, there were reports of more than 10 people killed but upon further inquiry, it has now been confirmed that only 6 were killed.

According to a media report quoting highly-placed intelligence sources, the clashes took place at Nayang Wakathan camp of NSCN (K) YA group. The location is reportedly on the other side of Pangsau Pass in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Cadres of the proscribed PLA, an active Manipur armed group were taking shelters on a “payment basis”, said the report.

“Family members in Thoubal and Kakching of three killed were contacted and confirmed the incident,” said the report attributing to its sources.

The report alleged that there were large-scale frustrations among a few cadres of PLA on account of several reasons including “coercion by Myanmarese army and lack of amenities in camps” as they are facing a financial crisis, and so on, resulting in a few cadres deserting away with weapons.”

A search was launched to find the “deserters and bring them back, which led to the intra factional clash, it added.
