527 new Covid-19 cases, eight deaths reported as Manipur reels under high positivity rate

The state continues to grapple with the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic with 11.7 per cent positivity rates against the national average of 3.22%. While India’s recovery rate increases to 96.27%, Manipur’s recovery rate stands at 83.36 %.

Despite the state government enforcing a strict curfew to break the chain, Manipur continues to grapple with the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic with 11.7 per cent positivity against the national positivity rate of 3.22%. While India’s recovery rate increases to 96.27%, Manipur’s recovery rate stands at 83.36 %.

In the past twenty-four hours, 527 fresh covid 19 cases were reported in the state. The State-level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported eight Covid 19 deaths during the same period.

The positive cases from general population are from Imphal East (78), Imphal West (169), Thoubal (62), Bishnupur (66), Kakching (51), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (45), Chandel (3), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (9), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi (20), Kamjong (1), Noney (1) and Jiribam (7).

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said a statement issued by Manipur government’s covid-19 common control room.

The deaths were reported from Imphal West (1), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (1). The facility wise distributions are RIMS (1), JNIMS (4). DH Thoubal (2) and DH Churachandpur (1). The cumulative number of deaths is 1047.

Covid-19 common control room said 444 persons were discharged, out of which 288 are from home isolation, 42 are from RIMS (30) and JNIMS (12) and the rest [14 are from other Covid care facilities.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 64,065. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 53,405. The number of active cases is 9,613.

Oxygen status:

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1643 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 367 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur. District Hospitals and Government institutions have 436D,109B filled cylinders out of these:
