Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) on Saturday condemned the Manipur unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for using one of its campaign photographs against drugs and illicit substances in BJP’s Facebook post as its achievements. CADA also demanded the party to clarify at the earliest.

CADA, in a release, said that it has been campaigning against the unabated use of alcohol and other illicit substances in the campaign for the upcoming election, under the banner “ELECTION DA MAYAI KABA NISHA PAK SANNA SIJINNABA THINGNABA MEEYAM GI THOUDANG” (Role of the people to curb the use of illicit substances in election).

As part of the ongoing campaign, Kshetri Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi, Kshetri Leikai Apunba Club, CADA and The Thoubal District United Women’s Organization (Thoubal Ima) organised a public meeting at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Haotabi Lampak, Thoubal district on January 10.

Unfortunately, a Facebook page “BJP Manipur” used one of the photographs of the meeting with a caption “Anti drug awareness campaign held at Thoubal district” under the headline “THE BJP GOVT’S ‘WAR ON DRUGS’ GAINS MOMENTUM”, CADA stated.

Accusing the BJP of stealing the photo, CADA demanded that the party should clarify to the public on the matter at the earliest.
