UKLF celebrates 27th Rising Day

United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) Government of Khulmigam, which is under Suspension of Operation (SoO), on Tuesday celebrated its 27th Rising Day at the “Designated Nazareth Camp Muvanphoi” at Khangbarol in Chandel District.

UKLF GHQ Chairman SS Haokip, UKLF Home Secretary Lt. Col. Khupmang, Vice-Chairman UKLF Kt Misao, 27th Rising Day Committee Chairman Col. Kennedy, village chiefs and CSOs leaders from Chandel and Tengnoupal Districts attended the programme.

The function began with chairman SS Haokip hoisting the organization’s flag and receiving guard of honour by singing the outfit’s anthem. Later the chairman led the gathering in holding two-minute silence in honour of the outfit’s cadres who lost their lives.

Speaking on the occasion, UKLF chairman SS Haokip expressed gratitude to people from all walks of life who supported the UKLF. Maintaining UKLF policy is not on narrow communal or ethnicity lines, the chairman said Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Pangal are one and UKLF was established so that we can live peacefully in hills.

The chairman also added that UKLF was formed on March 29, 1995 due to love for patriotism, nationalism and love for ancestral land and protection of people from external forces.
