Ukhrul PSA Oxygen Plant inaugurated

The PSA Oxygen Plant at District Hospital, Ukhrul will have a capacity to produce 1000 litres per day and the one that is going to be installed at Somdal CHC will have the capacity to produce 500 litres per day.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday inaugurated PSA Oxygen Plant at District Hospital, Ukhrul constructed under 15 FC Grants in the presence of Minister TA and Hils, Vunzagin Valte, Minister of Education, S. Rajen, MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Khashim Vashum and Caretaker ADC-Ukhrul Chairman, Yaronsho Ngalung.

The PSA Oxygen Plant at District Hospital, Ukhrul will have a capacity to produce 1000 litres per day and the one that is going to be installed at Somdal CHC will have the capacity to produce 500 litres per day.

N Biren Singh stated that the cabinet has approved the regularisation of NHM staff members after being employed for a  long time. He lauded the doctors, nurses and staff of the District Hospital, Ukhrul for successfully delivering five  babies of women who had been put under Covid Positive Term Pregnancy category. 
He said that the government is trying its best to arrange equal infrastructure for all the hospitals so that they can face all health-related issues. Only serious cases will be referred to Imphal in the future, he said.

On the non-completion of 100 bedded Hospital, the chief minister remarked that politicalisation during the issue of contract work was the main hurdle. He assured the people of Ukhrul that the Hospital will reach its full capacity before the State Legislative Assembly election.

“Geographically, Ukhrul is a vast area, we are planning to bring development in every nooks and corners so that it serves the purpose for all sections of people from different areas. And that is the reason why we also have a plan to install PSA Oxygen Plant at Somdal CHC. With the advent of Covid-19 pandemic, the Government with the cooperation of the people has managed to bring development in the health sectors. To operate the oxygen plant, we need an expert or an experienced person and the Government has decided that recruitment will be done District wise.” He appealed “the local youngsters who possess the skills to come for interviews for the appointment to the same post.”

“Under the leadership of N Biren Singh, today we have inaugurated a life-saving oxygen plant at Chandel and Ukhrul and also the oxygen plant at Senapati will be inaugurated this evening. There is no Imphal, no Ukhrul, there is no difference now ” stated Health Minister Vunzagin Valte.

Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamsom on behalf of the people of Ukhrul extended a warm welcome to N Biren Singh, Minister TA and Hills, Vunzagin Valte, and Minister of Education, S Rajen at the function.  He added “In a time of just three months, under the leadership of CM N Biren Singh, tribal affairs and hills department has sanctioned three medical ambulances to cater to the needs of the covid patients in the District. We also thank the minister of Tribal Affair and Hills, Vunzagin Valte for augmentation in the health sector of the Ukhrul District.”

MLA Khashim Vashum along with DC Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamsom SP Ukhrul, Saujanya Singh, Additional DIG, Col. Dipankar Basu, Commanding Officer, Col Rippon Bora and BJP Ukhrul President, Wungtam Zimik gave a warm reception to CM and team at the helipad of Somsai.

Meanwhile, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), the apex student body of Tangkhul community submitted a memorandum to CM N. Biren Singh for setting up of state-run library at Ukhrul. The District Health Authority of Ukhrul also appealed to the visiting team for early release of remuneration for the contractual medical officers, staff nurses, and multi-tasking staff being engaged at the Covid-19 related duties of Kamjong and Ukhrul districts, since their re-engagement on April 23, 2021.

The chief minister and the team also visited the BJP Party Office situated at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul and had a closed-door interaction with the District Executives before leaving for Senapati.
