Ukhrul district administration on Friday organised a “One day career counselling and Awareness campaign” at the district administrative block for school and college students of the district.
According to a press release issued by DIO/DIPR, the program was held in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, 11 Airmen Selection centre, Guwahati (Assam) in order to have specified field experts for a better inputs to the participants.
The programme began with a welcome speech from Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, He encouraged the young students present stating “real winners in life are those who never give up to their dreams”.
Resource person of the day, S Shanmugam, Commanding Officer, 11 Airmen Selection Centre, Guwahati spoke on the various aspects in joining the Air Force. A student who has passed 12th standard or a graduate can join the Force in three branches namely Flying branch, Technical branch (ground duty) and Non-Technical branch (ground duty). He also elaborated the details regarding the educational qualifications, age limit and physical standards required for the selection. At the end of the detailed presentation from the Resource person, there was an interaction session with the participants and the program ended with vote of thanks from Maibam Suranjoy Singh, MCS, SDO Ukhrul.
