Two highway extortionists arrested in Kangpokpi

A Kangpokpi police team has arrested two alleged extortionists belonging to proscribed outfit United Kuki Liberation Army in Kangpokpi.
According to police, based on specific inputs regarding presence of UG cadres intending to extort money from trucks plying along NH2 and the shops around the area on Tuesday, KPI PS team was immediately rushed to the area. Two individuals were seen running away seeing the police team near Changoubung village. They were chased and apprehended.
The arrested were identified as Seitinthang Kilong, 46, of Kangchup Makhom and Satgoulen Haokip, 29, Kotlen village, police said.
On questioning they revealed, that they are active cadres of UKLA and have extorted money from three trucks on the same day, under command of one Davidson Haokip of Moreh, police added.
One transport receipt book of UKLA, three mobile phones, one Dio Scooty black in color bearing reg no MN01U-4664  and one black airbag have been seized from their possession. Rs 7,100 were also recovered from them.
Police further said an FIR has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on.
