A team of Narcotic Cell Imphal West on Sunday arrested two persons for involving in alleged transportation of illegal drugs, police said.
The arrested were identified as Md Nawaz Sharif (28) s/o Md. Zamalluddin and Md. Anis (28) s/o Md. Ayub both of Haoreibi Makha leikai PO/PS Lilong, Thoubal District Manipur. As many as 18 soap cases containing Heroin No. 4 powder and three packets containing 3,636 nos. of WY tablets recovered from inside the dashboard of their alto car, the police added.
According to the police, around 3.20 pm, a team of Narcotic Cell Imphal West under the supervision of OC N-Cell /IW and overall supervision of Dr S Ibomcha Singh MPS, SP Imphal West intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number MN05A 7549 in Chanchipur.
The vehicle was coming towards Imphal side. On checking the vehicle, the suspected Heroin No. 4, WY tablets were recovered from inside the dashboard of the car. Following the seizure of the drugs, the duo was arrested and the Alto car and two mobile phones with two jio SIMs also were impounded.
The arrested persons along with seized car, drugs and tablets are being handed over to Singjamei PS for further necessary action, the police added.
