Scheduled International flights to/from India to remain suspended till August 31

As per reports, the restrictions on international commercial flights were supposed to end on July 31, 2021. The latest notification comes amid the rising cases of Delta variant in several countries as well as because of the looming threat of COVID-19 third wave in the country

India has extended suspension of commercial international flights to and from India till August 31. A circular to this effect was issued by the country’s civil aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday.

The restriction shall not be applicable for international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA.

The order issued by DGCA said the competent authority has further extended the validity of circular issued on the Travel and Visa restrictions related to COVID-19 regarding Scheduled International commercial passenger services to and from India till August 31.

“However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on case-to-case basis,” it said.

All scheduled international flights to and from India had remained banned since March 23 last year, due to the COVID-19 crisis.

According to a report, the restrictions on international commercial flights were supposed to end on July 31, 2021. The latest notification comes amid the rising cases of Delta variant in several countries as well as because of the looming threat of COVID-19 third wave in the country.

Domestic flights resumed operations in India on May 25 last year after nearly two months of suspension, while international flights continue to remain suspended.
