“The Indian security forces will never be able to wash its hands off, smeared with the blood of innocent Nagas no matter how it comes out with a nonsensical statement which is linked to credible intelligence reports of movement of insurgents,” NSCN (I-M) asserted.

The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah), NSCN (I-M) has termed the Oting incident in which 15 civilians were killed, as a ‘black day’ for the Nagas, while maintaining that it was unprecedented in recent history, and the “absurdity and insanity of the Indian security forces has been exposed in the most brutish manner”.
NSCN (I-M) expressed its deep anguish and conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. We also share our sympathy with those who are grievously injured and pray for their speedy recovery, stated a statement condemning the incident issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of NSCN (I-M).
Ironically, the fact that the ubiquitous Indian security forces have brought about a toxic storm of bloody dust in Nagalim is not a new thing but a repeat of the past to suppress the legitimate Naga political movement, the Naga outfit said.
“The Indian security forces will never be able to wash its hands off, smeared with the blood of innocent Nagas no matter how it comes out with a nonsensical statement which is linked to credible intelligence reports of movement of insurgents.”
The NSCN (I-M) said that it learned that the killing was the work of the “trigger-happy” 21st Para Commandos/Assam Rifles. The Nagas had in the past faced a “trigger-happy Indian security forces”, acting with impunity under the Government of India’s Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act/AFSPA which is mainly used against the Naga political movement, it added.
Notwithstanding the ongoing Indo- Naga political dialogue that has seen much fruition during the period running more than two decades, the violence against the Nagas continues unabated, NSCN (I-M) said, adding that it is one of the most unfortunate incidents after the lndo-Naga ceasefire signed in 1997.
“Under this situation we find it difficult to use the right words to condemn the killing of unarmed civilians and it cannot be justified in any manner in this part of the civilized world (Nagalim) where the Indo-Naga peace process has seen much progress. Such a barbaric act of killing innocent people is against humanity and those responsible for such heinous acts should be brought to justice.”
On the other hand, The Eastern Naga National Workers Union, (NSCN), said that it was anguished over the incident that happened on the fateful night of December 4, 2021 at Oting Village under Mon District where the Indian security forces had massacred innocent civilians.
This cowardly act of the rifles over the peace loving citizen on any pretext is highly condemnable. We, the Eastern Nagas National Workers Union, deeply mourn along with the fellow Konyak’s brothers at this time of unfortunate incidents and convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, stated a statement.
The ENPO in a Joint Consultative meet at Tuensang Hq on December 18, 2007 had passed the resolution that there will be no more bloodshed on the Eastern soil, but, unfortunately, this so called “Friends of the Hills People”, disguised in sheep clothing has exposed its true colour, it asserted.
“This act of atrocities towards the innocent Oting villagers under Konyak’s communities and the Nagas in general will be remembered as a tumultuous moment in the Naga History.”
In a separate release, the Office of the Konyak Region of NSCN (I-M) also condemned the incident.
“The Konyak National Workers deeply mourn along with the Konyak brethrens and convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. Let the Departed soul rest in peace.”
Under no other circumstances the security forces have the right to inflict upon the general masses. The “unscrupulous and savage act” of the Indian security forces should be condemned by the entire right thinking citizen, it asserted.
The six decades old AFSPA has done nothing right; rather it is an act to suppress the self determination of the Nagas to live as a nation. Let this incident be the first and the last in the Naga soil and together we will flash out the AFSPA from the Naga soil once and for all, it added.
