In a record, NPF conquered 43-Phungyar, 44-Ukhrul and 45-Chingai Assembly Constituencies at the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022.
Ever in the history of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, this is the first time that any candidate has been elected consecutively for the record second term. Khashim Vashum of NPF was elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022 by securing 12837 votes defeating his nearest rival Ningam Chamroy of NPP candidate who secured 10501 votes.
In another historic moment, Leishiyo Keishing retain his seat of 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency by securing 11642 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Awung Shimray Hopingson of BJP who secured 10863 votes.
Ram Muivah who contested for the first time defeated sitting INC MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur. Ram Muivah from NPF secured 15376 and Alfred Kanngam Arthur manage to garner only 14431 votes.
Speaking at the reception programme, Khashim Vashum gave utmost gratitude to God and the people of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency for reposing their faith in him. He also appealed the supporter to show love and concern to their fellow brothers and sisters who have voted for other candidates. He assured the gathering that he will work for the welfare of the people and extend his equal respect to his rival candidates. “We are political rival, but we are not enemy” stated Khashim Vashum.
