The Manipur Government on Saturday announced that mass vaccination in the community may be organised, provided the required logistics are supported by the elected members of Manipur Legislative Assembly or DCs where there is no elected member. The AEFI management will have to be properly monitored and managed for it.

The decision was taken, amongst others, in a review meeting of the Core Vaccination Committee Members held under the chairmanship of state mission director on Friday, in connection with the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive in the state.

In an office memo, NHM Manipur, state mission director Dr. N. Shyamjai Singh informed that the limitation of 150 beneficiaries per session has been relaxed. The districts can now set their session targets as per the available vaccine stocks, logistics and manpower.

The districts can also increase the number of CVCS (COVID Vaccination Centre) over and above the existing centers or create a separate session site for age group 18-44 whichever is convenient as per the demand of the people, taking the vaccine stock and logistics into consideration.

According to the new recommendations, all districts may schedule sessions for the vaccination for the age group of 18-44 years alongside the age group of 45 years and above group in the same CVC, taking the vaccine stock and logistics into consideration. In this regard, District Family Welfare Officers (DFWO) and District Immunization Officers (DIO) can contact the state immunization officer for the required vaccine and logistics.

The memo also reminded that as per GOI guideline dated May 16, 2021, the minimum period between the first and second dose has been set to 84 days (12-16 weeks). However, those who have already booked online appointments for second dose prior to the change of the guideline may be permitted to get vaccinated, it added.

Further, all the DFWOS or DIOS will convey the same to the entire concerned field staff of the COVID-19 Vaccination Centers (CVC). The districts have also been requested to take up necessary action for early compliance of the new recommendations in the larger interest of the people.
